The one thing I have always loved about jewellery was the fact that each piece usually has a story behind it, a little bit of history worn proudly by its owner and a little insight to what type of person they may be. Growing up my Grandma had a charm bracelet and I loved to ask the stories behind each charm, when was it bought, what special occasion had it been for, which was her favourite?
In 2017 I got married and my surname changed to Champion. A Champion is often somebody awarded a medal for something they have achieved. This person is also known as a Medalist. I created the brand Medalist to award women with a medal for their part in changing the world for women today. I wanted to create jewellery pieces that, like my Grandmas charms, had a story behind them. I wanted to focus on women whose stories have been lost a little over time even though they had really meddled with history. The charms would stand as a talking point to get their story out there.
The half scallop charm is the Medalist branding identity. Jewellery to me is a true statement of your personality, it remains with you throughout your life and is a visual representation of your unique style.
It was history, now it’s hers.
